Crazy Colors Made Wearable: A Question of Balance - Makeup and Beauty Blog
If yous know me (and chances are y'all don't withal, merely I practise hope we go there!), then you'll know that I love colour, especially when information technology comes in the form of a TF-engraved bullet — simply I'thou not one to underestimate the ability of imperial eyeshadow or teal liner either.
Even so the comments I get the most on my blog are when I wearable natural, classic looks. Which got me wondering… How's that even possible? Can yous vesture colorful makeup and still look natural?
Well, as a matter of fact, YES, I call up y'all totally can! Equally with everything in life, it's a question of balance.
Which simply means that if you play something upward, you should play something else down. And then, if y'all're using brilliant shades on your optics or lips, in order to go well-counterbalanced, natural-looking makeup, my main proposition is to go very minimal with your base and brows. Permit me explain this in more particular…
Start with a lite base
Fifty-fifty though I often have quite a few blemishes to conceal, I normally like to apply a lightweight foundation (my oily pare loves Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet, because it's matte, even so luminous), and and so utilise a full-coverage concealer only on my problem areas, and then that the end outcome is very natural and not mask-like at all.

Ditch those falsies and black liner
Although your Instagram or Pinterest feeds are probably suggesting that makeup isn't complete without falsies and thick black liner, I personally disagree. In my stance, if you're going for a colorful, yet fresh-faced look, you can but skip them altogether. OR, if yous discover that lashings of mascara aren't enough to define your optics, I suggest adding a very sparse line with a little flick and/or individual lashes.
If y'all're someone who's ever been attracted to colorful makeup only have never dared to wearable information technology in public, you may wanna requite this pared-downwardly version a effort.
About people won't even detect! The other mean solar day, while I was wearing this lime green and purple eyeshadow, in chronological order I met:
- A delivery homo who didn't bat an eyelash, even though I had but one eye done (why do they ever come to the door at the worst possible time? WHY???). I don't know if lime dark-green eyeshadow even existed back when she was born, simply the smile she greeted me with was the same as whatsoever other 24-hour interval.
- The owner of the produce shop around the corner. With the ridiculous amount of avocados I purchase from him, I might very well be his best client, and then I don't think he'd requite a damn even if he saw me enter his store wearing one of Lady Gaga'southward primeval makeup looks and outfits, every bit long as I keep visiting his shop. I've never really tried that, but I can assure you lot that he didn't requite me any sidelong glances for wearing lime green and purple on my eyes.
- The fourth grader I'm teaching English to. She's the just i who actually noticed my colorful shadows (and funny-looking pilus) and said that I resembled ane of the Winx Society fairies… Trust me, she meant information technology equally HUUUGE compliment.
None of these suggestions are unbreakable rules. I firmly believe that when information technology comes to makeup, there'south no right or incorrect, only what you lot practice and don't like. Then experiment, play, have fun… Later on all, isn't that what makeup is really about?! 😉
