Cmr. Bush announces winners for Adopt-A-Beach 2019 fine art contest

Big SPRING — Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the 23rd Annual Adopt-A-Beach "Treasures of the Texas Coast" Children's Art Contest winners. This year, over 3,900 students entered their artwork. The grand prize winner, selected from the twoscore overall winners, was Grace Wimberley, a 5th grader at Saint Mary School in Orange, TX.

"Adopt-A-Beach is more than but volunteering to make clean upwardly the Texas declension. The Prefer-A-Beach program teaches immature Texans the importance and impact of their actions and how they likewise can help care for Texas and its surroundings," said Commissioner Bush. "Through the 'Treasures of the Texas' Coast' Children'due south Art Competition, kids from across the state have been able to learn more than about our Texas declension while enjoying the chance to showcase their talent. I am e'er impressed by the outstanding ability of young Texans!"



Grace Wimberley's artwork, along with 39 runners-upwards, will appear on the encompass of the 2020 Adopt-A-Beach calendar, which will be distributed statewide. The artwork of all winners will be on public display in the South-Central Gallery of the Texas Capitol May 21st - 28th for all visitors to view and appreciate. The exhibit will be sponsored by Texas Land Senator Larry Taylor (R – District 11).

M prize winner Grace Wimberley volition receive two round-trip coach-class tickets from United Airlines to whatever United destination in the 48 face-to-face United States, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, and Central America, one 7-nighttime Caribbean cruise from Majestic Caribbean area International parting out of Galveston, Miami, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, Port Canaveral or Puerto Rico, and a class party at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels.

All 40 winners will receive a ticket to the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi, a ticket to the Texas State Aquarium, two tickets to the Houston Zoo, two all solar day passes to Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels, prizes and a document of recognition from the Texas General Land Office and a agenda displaying the winning artwork.
